Early spring dawn at the Lindholm Port Vesterhavn offshore wind maintenance base. Electrical safety supervisor Esben Kjær was found dead in the lower substation of test turbine T0. Cause of death: arc flash—electricity tearing through air, generating instantaneous extreme heat. His upper body bore extensive burns, and his airways were damaged from inhaling superheated gas. The circuit, de-energized for three days during maintenance, was re-energized at 04:10. He was still inside. Five names were on the T0 maintenance roster that dawn. Without interrogation, there's no way to know what the hand that closed that circuit at 04:10 knew in that moment.

The hasp beside the breaker that sends electricity to T0 has two padlock positions, both now empty. The hasp bears no signs of cutting. The logbook hanging beside it has columns for recording the time padlocks were applied and removed.
Lower substation door latch and safety supervisor tag
The substation door latch has a hook for hanging a tag, now empty. On the floor before the door lie the supervisor's helmet and a rod-shaped voltage verification device.
Re-energization notification original and office sent mail folder
The notification is printed on base standard format and states 04:10 re-energization. A callback number is printed at the bottom.
Lower substation grounding cables and wall-hook permit
Three thick cables are attached to the cable termination, their ends melted and fused. The work permit—a document specifying work scope and collecting signatures at each step—hangs on a wall hook with the final page open.
