municipal theater in operation (night rehearsal for seasonal performance) · late autumn rain

On a rainy late-autumn night, Han Dong-yeol, the stage manager who'd held the post at the municipal theater for fifteen years, collapsed onstage from cardiac arrest. It was just after the winter-season night rehearsal ended, and four people remained in the building. Cause of death: ventricular fibrillation—a heart that quivers but cannot pump—witnessed cardiac arrest with bystanders present. Yet it took eleven minutes from collapse to first defibrillation, the electric shock meant to restart the heart. Interrogate the four who were upstairs and down during those eleven minutes. Determine whether this death was misfortune or something else.
