Night of Restraint
Cha Kyung-rip, a mental health rights ombudsman who came from outside to monitor and challenge unjust treatment, was found dead in the morning in the closed ward of Seoha Municipal Mental Health Hospital. The discovery site was a restraint room where patients are tied to beds with straps to immobilize them. He had been subjected to involuntary admission without consent due to acute mania and remained restrained throughout the night. The cause of death was pulmonary embolism—a blood clot blocking the lung vessels—resulting from prolonged restraint that continued uninterrupted through the night. Interrogate the five people who were in the ward that night and determine where responsibility for this death lies.
